Maseru, 16 September 2026 – Telecommunications powerhouse Econet Telecom Lesotho has introduced the new Econet Prime Pro 5G, expanding its smartphone range with a 5G-enabled device designed to give customers access to faster connectivity, greater storage flexibility and modern mobile features at an accessible price.

The new device builds on the Econet Prime smartphone range introduced in 2024, when Econet positioned the range as part of its drive to improve access to modern connectivity and digital technology in Lesotho.

With 5G connectivity, the Econet Prime Pro 5G gives customers access to a next-generation mobile experience for browsing, streaming, communication and everyday digital use.

The smartphone comes with 64GB internal storage and 4GB RAM, while customers who need additional space can expand storage by up to 1TB, providing more room for photos, videos, applications, music and documents.

It also supports Dual SIM and eSIM, giving customers greater flexibility in how they connect, while Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE provide additional options for staying connected and improving the voice-calling experience.

Speaking on the introduction of the device, Econet Telecom Lesotho’s acting GM – Marketing Communications & Customer Experience Mrs. Puleng Masoabi said the new Econet Prime Pro 5G phone reflects Econet’s continued focus on making newer generations of mobile technology more accessible to customers.

The device is powered by a 5,000mAh battery, designed to provide long-lasting power for everyday use, and features a 13MP camera for capturing photos and everyday moments.

Mrs. Masoabi added that the Econet Prime Pro 5G has been developed around the evolving needs of customers who increasingly rely on their smartphones for much more than basic communication.
