Econet Spache-Fono is an Econet Lesotho mobile money transfer service that allows you to conveniently pay bills, send and receive money from anywhere in the country. Subscribers have the freedom to also send money to any Standard Lesotho Bank account or vice versa.
To register for EcoCash, dial *100# and select 4, EcoCash.

•To register, you must be an Econet subscriber, that is Buddie, Libertie, My EcoFlexi or a Business partner.
•Dial *100#, select 4 EcoCash, enter your ID or passport number.
•Alternatively, you can visit any Econet shop, post office or an authorized agent with your passport or drivers licence.
•The EcoCash system automatically sends a confirmation SMS, confirming activation of EcoCash wallet
•A 4-digit PIN default PIN code is also sent; you must change this PIN to a new one before conducting your first transaction.
•You will use the PIN every time to access the EcoCash wallet and check balance.
•You can visit the nearest EcoCash agent or Econet shops to deposit money.

How to purchase airtime using my EcoCash Wallet
Dial *100#, select 4 EcoCash and enter your PIN
Select Option 1 – Airtime and Bundles
Select Option 1 – Airtime
Select either Option 1-My Phone or Option 2-Other Phone
If you are recharging other phone, enter the receiving mobile number (Econet subscribers only).
Enter the amount that you wish to recharge (e.g. 10 for M10 or 10.50 for M10.50)
You will see a notification on your screen advising you of how much you have said you wish to recharge and the mobile number you wish to send to. From there you can either Select Option 1-Confirm or Option 2-Cancel the transaction.
If you approve the transaction, a confirmation message will be sent to your phone as well as your new balance after the transaction
If you have sent someone else airtime; they will also receive a notification SMS that you have recharged for them and the amount of recharge.
Keep these confirmation messages as reference and only delete them when you are certain that you no longer need them.
How to buy bundles using my EcoCash wallet
Dial *100#, select 4 EcoCash and enter your PIN
Select Option 1 Airtime and Bundles
Select Option 2 – Buy Bundles
Select the bundle you wish to purchase
Select either Option 1-Self or Option 2-Others
If you are buying other phone, enter the receiving mobile number (Econet subscribers only).

Bank To EcoCash Wallet
Bank to wallet is a service that allows a Standard Lesotho Bank (SLB) customer to send money from their bank account to an EcoCash subscriber. This is a convenient service as an SLB customer no longer needs to visit and EcoCash agent to do a cash in. It saves money and time.
Any registered SLB mobile banking subscriber can transfer money into any EcoCash wallet
To transfer money,
Dial *128# and enter your PIN to access your EcoCash menu
Select Option 6. Account to Mobile Wallet
Select Option 1.EcoCash
Enter the number you are sending money to
Enter the amount you are transferring (e.g. 300 for M300)
A confirmation screen will appear with the number and the amount you are transferring; enter 1 to confirm
A person transferring money will receive an SMS from SLB; the subscriber with a loaded EcoCash wallet will receive an SMS from EcoCash

How To Purchase Electricity Using My EcoCash Wallet
Dial *100#, select 4 EcoCash and enter your PIN to access your EcoCash menu
Select Option 5 – Pay Bill
Select Option 2 Buy Electricity
Enter the amount (e.g. 5 for M5)
Enter the meter number
You will see a notification on your screen with the following details: Amount, Biller Code, Company Name (LEC) and Meter No. You can either Select Option 1-Confirm or Option 2-Cancel the transaction.
At any point press # to go back to the main menu.
Upon a successful transaction an SMS will be send to confirm purchase together with the details of the purchase, that is:
Receipt number, Customer Name, Meter number; Amount in Maloti of electricity purchased
kWh (Kilo Watt per hour)
Pin (which you will enter on your meter)
Arrears amount
New wallet balance
Transaction ID
A failed transaction will be notified and money will not be deducted
Remember, to purchase electricity with EcoCash, you need to be registered for EcoCash and must have deposited money into your wallet at an EcoCash Agent / Post Office / Econet shop.
Bill Payment
Dial *100#, select 4 EcoCash and enter your PIN to access your EcoCash menu
Select Option 5 – Pay Bill
Select the option you are paying for
You will see a notification on your screen with the following details: Amount, Biller Code, Company Name and account No.
You can either Select Option 1-Confirm or Option 2-Cancel the transaction.
Upon a successful transaction an SMS will be sent to confirm payment together with the details of the transaction and the balance in the wallet

Payroll and Bulk Payments
Any organization (profit making/non-profit making) can make bulk transfers of money to recipients using the EcoCash platform as a channel. Companies can also pay salaries and wages to their staff with the EcoCash platform.
Recipients use their mobile numbers as accounts to receive money. This function is ideal for payroll administration, aid distribution etc
The payroll function offers convenience to the receivers because they avoid the long queues at the banks and is safe and also caters for the unbanked market because no bank account is required. It is also affordable and convenient to the bulk payer.
Merchant Information
Any organisation (profit making/non-profit making) that receives payments for goods or services offered can receive payment through Ecocash platform and be a merchant. A merchant usually deals with over the counter sales.
If you are interested to become an Ecocash Merchant, you can visit the nearest Econet shop or call 199. You will be contacted and given a form to fill. Once you have completed the form, and have met all the requirements, you will be signed up as an ECOCASH merchant, receive training and be allocated a Merchant number.
A Merchant function offers convenience and security to you and to your customers because the funds are safe and secure in the Ecocash wallets.

Select Option 4 – Pay Merchant
Select Option 2 – Pay Fees
Enter Merchant Code
Enter the 8 digit account number (e.g. 20 for M20)
Enter reference (Child’s name and class)
You will see a notification on your screen with the following details: School, Child’s name, Class and Amount. You can either Select Option 1-Confirm or Option 2-Cancel the transaction.
At any point press # to go back to the main menu.
