Maseru, 13th December – The festive season is upon us, telecommunications giant Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) is delighted to announce its annual 12 Days to Christmas campaign dedicated to giving back to the community and spreading love to those in need.
Econet hosted this special event at its Thetsane premises, donating groceries worth over M65,000.00 to 10 homes that care for the orphaned and vulnerable in Lesotho. This act of kindness is a heartfelt reflection of Econet’s commitment to supporting the caregivers who dedicate their lives to nurturing these homes and the children who rely on them. “Our 12 Days to Christmas initiative is more than a donation; it is a celebration of love, care, and compassion,” said Mr. Dennis Plaatjies, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Econet Telecom Lesotho.
“As the Econet family, we recognize the pivotal role these homes play in shaping the lives of the disadvantaged communities , and we are humbled to contribute to their incredible efforts.”
“This event is also our way of expressing gratitude to our valued customers, whose unwavering support enables us to make a meaningful impact in our community across Lesotho,” added Mr. Plaatjies.
On her part, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Gender, Youth, and Social Development Mrs. Mahlapane Makakole-Boliba applauded Econet for its compassion. “Econet continues to set an inspiring example of how corporate partners can uplift the vulnerable in our society. This generous donation does not only provide for the orphaned but it also extends the much-needed support to other at-risk populations.”
Speaking on behalf of the 10 beneficiary homes, Mrs. ‘Mamonyane Mohale from Ministry of Hope Lesotho expressed her heartfelt gratitude. “The support we receive from initiatives like 12 Days to Christmas restores our hope and faith in humanity.” “It is heartwarming to see a corporate partner like Econet recognize the struggles we face and step in to make a difference. These groceries will bring joy to many children and remind us all of the true spirit of Christmas,” stressed Mrs. Mohale.
